National Taco Day is (finally) here. And with it comes plenty of reasons to grab the Tanteo off the bar cart and keep it close to the stovetop. We’re big fans of eating your tequila when the occasion calls for it — particularly ours, if we’re being completely honest
Tanteo Habanero, Chipotle and Jalapeño infusions make for a spicy, smoky or piquant addition to your taco recipes. It doesn’t matter if it’s the one you’ve cooked a million times before or the one you’re Googling right now — either way, adding ½ a cup of any of our three tequila infusions to your recipe can take your marinade to a whole new place.
For starters, here’s one of our favorite flavor-filled chili recipes you can drizzle right on top of ground beef, chicken, chorizo, cauliflower or whatever you’ve got inside your tortilla.
Queso Fundido Con Chili a la Tequila (via HORMEL®)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small red onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 poblano pepper, diced
1 jalapeño, seeded and diced
½ cup chopped red bell pepper
½ cup Tanteo Jalapeño tequila
1 (15-ounce) can HORMEL® Chili No Beans
1 (8-ounce) block sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1 (8-ounce) block Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves
Garnish: jalapeño slices, corn tortillas
Heat oven to 400°F. In 12-inch cast-iron skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Sauté onion and next 4 ingredients until softened. Remove from heat. Stir in tequila, return to heat and cook 2 minutes or until reduced by half. Stir in chili. Remove from heat. Sprinkle evenly with cheese. Gently stir and bake 30 minutes or until bubbly. Sprinkle with cilantro. Garnish with jalapeño slices, if desired.
The Jalapeño Tequila Shrimp Taco

Whisk all the ingredients together in a bowl until well blended. Add the shrimp, mix to coat evenly. Let it marinate for 30 minutes before grilling.
Serve with a Tanteo Jalapeño Margarita
2 oz. Tanteo Jalapeño Tequila
1 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
3/4 oz. Agave Nectar
Combine ingredients, shake and pour into an ice-filled rocks glass. Garnish with a Jalapeño slice.
Michael Robertson’s our California Market Manager Curated a Tanteo Tequila Dinner Pairing at Mari in SoCal
One more before we leave you to your cooking: A favorite SoCal restaurant of ours, Mari, recently featured a full Tanteo tequila dinner pairing menu. The fusion is a creative, globally-inspired lineup that’s admittedly got us thinking about exploring a few taco-cocktail duos of our own. The first event was so successful, they planned a second one shortly after.
See photos below of the dinner pairing and check out their menu if you’re ever in the area. Promise it’s worth the trip.
